Homemade IceCream

With the majority of my family being out of town for the 4th of July Holiday, I decided I wasn't going to let my girls go without the tradition of having homemade icecream for the occassion... well, the first batch of mint chocolate chip didn't turn out so great and it was quite the process (not sure how my Mom did it all those years with so many little ones running around), the 2nd batch of old fashion vanilla (that I then turned into cake batter with cookie dough) turned out pretty good if I do say so myself! The girls, for the most part, were helpful in crushing the ice, pouring the salt and putting it all in the icecream maker....

The finished product before I added the cake batter and cookie dough ingredients.. it was pretty cool to make it and actually have it turn out like icecream! My next challenge will be making homemade butter!
