Garden

When our garden was first planted....
This was a few weeks ago...

Alexis took this picture... we did actually pick the first tomato already, but I didn't have my camera for it! Now we have a lot of green tomatoes, but none ready for picking yet...

I was so excited that our zucchini plant was flourishing so well, until one day I found that we had an infestation of bugs eating every zucchini that had sprouted! We had to pull the plant up after trying several different ways to get rid of them! I hope my parents zucchini plants are doing better, I love fresh grilled zucchini in the summer!

Alexis 4th Birthday

I got Kayla up early from her nap so she could help me make brownies for Alexis's Birthday... she was a very happy helper!

We spent the rest of the evening outside swimming, playing on the swingset and monkey bars and hanging out....

Alexis best friend was able to join us for dinner, her favorite - chicken, corn on the cob, wild rice and grilled green peppers (just like Mommy!)

After Dinner we got to sing Happy Birthday -
Then Alexis opened her present from Kayla....

A very big dress "long to her toes" just how she likes it and in her favorite color - pink!

Kayla also picked out the package of princess lipstick for her... My girly girls...
Later they wanted me to take a picture of them playing in the loft - they said "Mommy look, aren't we playing nice together? Can you take our picture?

Shortly after this they started fighting over the princess blanket!

Weekend in the City

We took the train downtown for Alexis Birthday and stayed overnight this time! The girls waiting for the train....

Having fun on the train... both of them were too excited to take their much needed naps... in the picture below I asked them to pretend they were sleeping (they really needed to be!) Kayla was very cranky!

Then Kayla actually did fall asleep in the stroller for a little while before we went to dinner.

Out to the Pier to ride some rides and hang out for a while....

Tried bribing the crankiness out of them with ice cream, but that didn't work! Kayla didn't like hers too much...
All smiles for the horse and carriage ride through the City...
Even though they were so tired, it took so much longer to get them to sleep in the same room! I was so greatful when they finally went to sleep that I had to get a picture!
All ready for the Zoo - Kayla couldn't wait to get out of the stroller and see all of the animals....
She says "stop taking pictures Dad, time for animals"....

Off to the beach - first things first - time to get some food!
Hanging out in the sand....

Kayla escaped!!!
Trolley ride back to the hotel...
Last resort - another long day with no naps, two crabby girls got to watch TV on our phones for the train ride home! Isn't technology great!

Ravinia

We went on a date to Ravinia last weekend... the girls slept at their Aunt's house...
Having a good time with a picnic on the lawn under the trees playing cards, checkers and chinese checkers just listening to some good music!

It was a great night, we definitely plan on going back!
