Advent 2007

Thanks to my sister for reminding me of the fond memories our parents made for us growing up. Especially during Advent when we would light the advent wreath nightly before dinner. I was encouraged this year to start the tradition with my girls. I was able to explain it a little bit to Alexis, but when Kayla saw the candles she starting singing Happy Birthday - so we made it into a "Happy Birthday Baby Jesus" song, which I guess is appropriate!

Alexis waiting patiently to say our prayers... Kayla trying to swipe the candles....
Kayla was really really excited when I lit the candle and she really thought it was time to sing Happy Birthday! (Excuse the mess on her shirt, she is our sloppy little eater and with all of us being sick at the same time, a clean shirt wasn't top on my priority list).
While Mommy was cleaning up dinner the girls watched The Grinch, they watched so very nicely together. They both love that movie, especially the songs and Cindy Lou Who. I thought they would be scared of the Grinch, but both of them really like him. I don't mind them watching it because we focus on Cindy Lou Who's role in the movie and how kind she is to the Grinch even though everyone else is mean to him, and that her believing in him helped bring out the change in him to be nice.
