The Girls

This afternoon we decided to get a head start on our spring cleaning by clearing out the girls closets... My wedding dress is in Kayla's closet and as we were cleaning out the closet, Alexis wanted me to put on my wedding dress! It actually still fits two kids later :0) Then Alexis wanted to wear it so she could be a princess... I found her laying in the hall in it because she couldn't walk very well with it on, it's kind of heavy and very long on her, But she wanted me to take her picture in it...

She's so funny! She then wanted me to take pictures of Kayla, but I had to get back to work cleaning out closets before nap time so I let her have my camera...

She actually did pretty good, I love this picture of Kayla's face that she took even though Kayla isn't smiling!

Ethan's Birthday Party

We got to celebrate my nephew's first Birthday with him this weekend!

He gets to blow out the candles on a Birthday cake for the first time!
Alexis and her cousin playing dress up at the party... they are so cute and have become such good friends.
Caught the Birthday boy reading some books. He is such a cutie and a good boy!

Mommy and Kayla smile for the camera.

Cinnamon Rolls Playdate

Alexis had a friend over last week to help us make some cinnabon cinnamon rolls! Alexis loved making these with Mommy - she gets to get her hands all dirty (of course we wash them really well before she starts!)

First things first, of course Alexis had to hold her friends baby sister...
Then, the fun begins!

Oooey gooey buttery fingers...
Rubbing the butter on the dough...

Then the brownsugar and cinnamon mixture gets to get rubbed on...
They were all ready to wash their hands and start playing with their toys!

Nana's Birthday and the Girls

Happy Birthday Nana - we got to Celebrate Nana's Birthday with her last week..., this is the only picture I got... Kayla was on Nana's lap, waiting for the cake to be cut of course! Nana shared her cake with her, how nice of Nana!
A girl with high hopes....
Last weekend after Mommy picked up Market Day and cleaned out the fridge/freezer to put the food away... Kayla decided to make a bed out of one of the boxes! She is soooo funny! I love her imagination!
Alexis practicing for dance class in her new dance outfit...

Snow play and Dress Up Fun

Before both of the girls were really really not feeling well, they got a chance to play out in the snow... Alexis loved it....

Kayla warmed up to it after a little while...
They had a good time, especially looking at their foot prints in the snow.
So, yes, the girls absolutely love the dress up armoire Daddy built for them... they have played with it every day since Christmas. There are dresses in there Alexis thinks are new because she forgot they were in the dress up bin. I think it is a great tool for fostering their imagination and hope Daddy will build more of them for other children to enjoy!

Of course Kayla found her way into the "playpen" for her baby doll and wanted to pretend to be a baby! She is funny!

Snowman

Although both Kayla and Alexis have been sick this week, Daddy was able to build a snowman for them out on the deck that they could both enjoy.... most of the time....

I thought he did a great job. He used a kit that one of his Aunts gave the girls for building a snowman. It was very cute. I enjoy it very much!

Happy New Year! 2008

Due to all of the snow we spent a quiet evening at home for the most part on New Year's Eve... we did decide to take the girls to the movies - our first Family Movie night - to see Alvin and the Chipmunks... about 3/4 of the way through, the fire alarms went off, someone burnt the popcorn and we had to evacuate the building. When we told Alexis we were going to take her to see Alvin and the Chipmunks (one of her favorite Christmas CD's), she asked if we were going to take a walk with them after the movie! I was so delighted that she remembered about Rudolph and our walk with Santa, Mrs. Claus and the reindeer earlier in December! She was kind of disappointed that we wouldn't be taking a walk with them after the movie though.
The girls enjoying some veggies before our New Year's Countdown...
You can see in Kayla's eyes here that she is really not feeling well... she started running over a 100 fever that night... but she has been a great trooper. They were all set to bang pots and pans (the annual Kolich tradition) when we did our countdown.
The girls had an apple juice toast at the end of our countdown (8:00pm before their bedtime).
Getting ready for Grandma and Grandpa's annual prime rib dinner on New Years Day... Alexis was ready to go...
Kayla gave me a little battle getting ready, she really wasn't feeling well at all. She is still running a fever and hopefully she will kick this cold within the next day or two.

Of course Aunt Theresa had a HUGE bag of Cheetos for Alexis and Kayla - in their nice cream colored dresses none the less!

Presents with Nana and Pa

Of course when Nana and Pa came over to exchange gifts with the girls... Pa had his video camera! He's just like Mommy is with the camera!

The girls were taking naps when Nana and Pa arrived...
Nana and Pa waited patiently for them to awake from their naps.
Of course the first thing they noticed were the matching baby doll strollers. Both of the girls really love babies. Alexis has even asked us for more babies of our own. We told her we would have to see....

Kayla opening presents... she does a great job opening them all by herself.
Pa showing Kayla how to read the very large pillow book all by herself....

Nana and Pa with the girls!
Pa showing Kayla all of the picture he took.
Daddy opening a gift from Nana and Pa.... he doesn't quite know how to react when something is just for him ( a gift card for Menards) He's always thinking of ways he could use it for the girls!
More presents for the girls...
They were soooooo excited about their matching Princess blankets, pillows and books! Their smiles say it all! We couldn't even get them to smile so well for our Christmas picture, next time we'll know that Princesses do the trick!

Alexis was so very excited about her princess stuff, she was very insistent that we bring it to bed with her. She was so very much wanting to sleep with the princesses!~
